Civil Infractions Opinion Survey Results Announced
Included in the mailing of over 2,700 Winter 2011 Tax bills, was an opinion survey regarding the use of civil infractions to enforce township ordinances. There were 258 surveys returned.
126 were in favor of civil infractions.
120 wanted to keep the present enforcement system.
12 expressed no opinion.

A survey, to determine public opinion on Chemical application of 2, 4-D herbicides at a rate of 200# per acre for aquatic weed control.was mailed to residents in the Devils Lake assessment district. At the February 8, 2012 Board of Trustees meeting, results of this survey were announced. Of the 531 surveys mailed, 182 were returned. 43.9% were in favor of using herbicides. 56.1% were against the use of herbicides.
Adrian Habitat Restore Recycles Electronics
Habitat for Humanity Restore in Adrian has begun accepting electronics for recycling. The store at 2811 Treat Highway, just north of US 223, sells donated home repair and home furnishing items at low cost and uses the funds to support Habitat projects. Items accepted include TV's, computers and monitors, printers, cell phones, game consoles, iPods and MP3 players. All electronic items are accepted free of charge, with no money paid for the items.
Restore hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m..
CERT Organizational Meeting * February 23, 2012
Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 23rd, from 7-9 p.m.. There will be an organizational meeting at the Rollin Township Hall, 730 Manitou Rd., Manitou Beachfor establishing a township Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and network of neighbors helping neighbors following a disaster such as a tornado.
CERT members will share a PowerPoint presentation on disasters and discuss what can be done to be prepared for an emergency. Is there a local shelter in the area? Get involved and get prepared for an emergency in our area. Plan to attend this meeting; it might save a life.

Supervisor Office Hours * Temporary Change
On January 11th, Supervisor Jenkins attended a grant-writing seminar in Lansing. His office hours will be by appointment only until mid-March. This will enable Mr. Jenkins to complete one or more grant applications that will help fund township improvements.

Tuesday, February 28, 2012 * Presidential Primary Election
On Tuesday, February 28, 2012, Presidential Primary voting will be held for Precinct 1 at the Rollin Township Hal, 730 Manitou Road, Manitou Beach from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.. The last day to register to vote for this election is Monday, January 30th. Deadline for voters requesting an absentee ballot, is 4 p.m. Saturday, February 25th.

Proposed Zoning Ordinance Changes
To update and be compliant with the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act, several changes to the Rollin Township Zoning Ordinance are being proposed. The Planning Commission has been working with Tim Anderson, Principal Planner with Region 2, to review the ordinance and classify some items as "high priority".
A 139 page draft of the revised Ordinance is available at the township hall. Interested parties may call to schedule an appointment to view this document. (517-547-7786).
